OH MY GOODNESS ….
I’ve been craving apple butter the last few days. No clue why as I don’t even really like apples. Being a Pothead my first thought was – There has to be a way to make it in the IP.
So I decided to try it. YUMMMMMM! This recipe made 24 ounces plus a bit more that was eaten before it got put into a jar.
I used Red Delicious Apples and to spice it up a bit, I used bourbon as my liquid. I was a bit worried about getting a burn notice on my IP as that is a very small amount of liquid but everything went perfect.

A delicious addition to oatmeal, over vanilla ice cream or just on a piece of toast for breakfast.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs apples (I used Red Delicious but any sweet apple should work)
- 1/4 cup Bourbon
- 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1 TBSP brown sugar
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 TBSP Lemon Juice
Method
-
Wash, peel and core apples.
-
Cut the apples into fourths.
-
Place the apples into the Instant Pot and add bourbon, pumpkin pie spice spice, brown sugar, salt and lemon juice.
- Cook on high pressure for 15 minutes.
-
Let it NR for 15 minutes - then QR the rest of the pressure.
-
Let apples cool for a few minutes.
- Place into blender (I used the IP Ace Blender or use a stick blender) and blend until smooth.
- Taste it and wonder where this amazing stuff has been all your life.
- I put it into mason jars. One in the fridge and the rest in the freezer.
